Calderdale is above the national average in terms of GCSE passes according to the latest statistics.
The number of pupils achieving five A* to C grades including English and Maths rose from 59.4 per cent in 2011 to 61.1 per cent in 2012 - the national average was 58.8 per cent.
The biggest achievers from the statistics were Crossley Heath School, Halifax, which saw 100 per cent of pupils achieve the five good GCSEs standard and North Halifax Grammar School where 99 per cent of pupils made the grade.
Sowerby Bridge High School saw the most improvement from pupils with a ten per cent rise in the number of pupils getting five good passes from 37 to 47 per cent.
At A-Level students achieved an average point score of 728.5 just below the national average of 754.4.
Crossley Heath again led the way with an average point score per pupil of 1044.
