Calderdale charity Working Wonders is saddling up for a sponsored cycling time trial to help raise funds for 50 local apprenticeships.
The Cragg Challenge event on April 3 will see cyclists of all abilities tackle the five-mile stretch between St Michael’s Church in Mytholmroyd and Blackstone Edge reservoir, which is part of this year’s official Tour de France route.
Martin Haigh, from Working Wonders, said: “We’re aiming to have 100 riders on the day and raise around £2,000 just from this event.
“There will be a special VIP dinner on the day at St Michael’s Church with the Mayor of Calderdale, the chief executive of Calderdale Council and Gary Verity from Welcome to Yorkshire.
“So we thought it would be a great opportunity to organise a cycle event at the same time.
“But we don’t want it to be just for super cyclists dressed in Lycra. Everyone can get their bikes out and take part.”
