Halifax man seriously injured in Thailand accident

A 25-year-old Halifax man is critically ill in a Thailand hospital following a motorcycle accident.

Ricky O’Brien, of Skircoat Green, Halifax, suffered brain damage, a broken neck, is paralysed and unconscious.

His parents Martin and Carmel have flown out and are keeping a bedside vigil hoping for a miracle recovery.

Ricky landed in Thailand on December 5 for an extended winter holiday with his sister Corrine and husband Lee who live at Chaing Mai, northern Thailand.

And the family has another nightmare to contend with as Ricky’s insurance is believed to have run out just before the accident on January 6.

Friends are rallying round to try and raise around £40k to cover Ricky’s medical bills and fly him home.
