The final talking point in the #minsterseries at Halifax Minster took place, last night (February 17).
The debate focused on ‘Banking and the Economy’ with guest speaker David Nicholson, group director of Halifax Commercial Bank, answering the public’s question on banking practices and ethics going forward.
Halifax Minster audience tackled the panel about the loss of localism within the banking industry, the role of banks in the community, and the recklessness in practice in the pursuit for endless profits.
Mr Nicholson was joined on the panel by Steve Leigh from Mid-Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce who highlighted the importance of Lloyds Banking Group in Calderdale’s community and Vicky Atkinson from Riley and Co. accountants, Halifax.
The event was chaired by the Bishop of Pontefract, The Rt Revd Tony Robinson, who thanked the public for attending and said the next Minster Series will take place in Autumn/Winter 2014.
