A fundraising support group of three women from Halifax have reached new heights for a charity.
The trio, Tracey Moore, Jane Taggart and Pat Chadwick, reached their target following an event at Shelf Village Hall which took their fundraising efforts to £20,000 for Manorlands Hospice since forming the Halifax support group in 2008.
The group formed after Tracey’s mum, who was also Pat’s sister-in-law, was cared for at the Oxenhope hospice.
After Tracey’s held her 50th birthday party requesting donations to Manorlands, she was put in touch with Jane, who was also looking to support the hospice in some way after they cared for her husband.
Tracey said: “I wanted to give something back to Manorlands and so did Jane so Manorlands put us in contact with each other.
“The rest is history as they say!
“The three of us are so thrilled to have reached this target and we’d like to say a big thank you everyone who has supported us with our fundraising efforts over the years,” she added.
Hayley Ibbotson, regional fundraiser, said: “To raise such a fantastic amount of money really is testament to all the hard work and dedication of Tracey, Jane and Pat.
“Over the years these funds will have helped a number of our patients and their families and we are very grateful for their support.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you on behalf of everyone here at Manorlands on their incredible achievement,” she said.
The group supports the work of the hospice by raising awareness of the work of the hospice and by organising events to raise funds, primarily around the Halifax area.
