A Halifax high school remains tight lipped as to why its head teacher isn’t in school.

Park Lane Learning Trust head Stephen Taylor did not return to his position after the recent half-term and deputy head Lorraine Page has now taken on his duties.

Calderdale Council’s cabinet member for children and young people’s services, coun Megan Swift, said: “We have been informed by Park Lane Learning Trust that the head teacher is currently absent from school and that the deputy head, Lorraine Page, has taken on his duties.

“Because the school is an independent trust its employment practices are managed by a governing body which reports to the trustees and not the council.”

The Halifax Courier contacted Park Lane Learning Trust’s chair of governors,Dr Pat Hill, who refused to comment.
