Special events for Yorkshire businesses on how to overcome and protect against flooding are being held this month.

Welcome to Yorkshire is working with VisitEngland to run the four events, which is being funded by a national £2m government programme to support businesses affected by flooding.

The events in Malton, Hebden Bridge, York and Scarborough will include various speakers offering insight and practical tips on how to minimise the impacts of flooding and how businesses can best protest themselves.

Places will be allocated on a first come first serve basis and open to any Yorkshire-based tourism and retail business.

Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: “We’d encourage any Yorkshire business directly concerned about flooding in their area – and how to handle that eventuality – to get in touch and take advantage of these events.”

The events at Henden Bridge Town Hall will be held between 9.30am-12.30pm and 1pm-4pm on Tuesday, March 18.
