It’s not too late to fill your shoeboxes

Shoebox Appeal: Siddal Primary School

As the Rotary and Courier Christmas Shoebox Appeal 2012 draws to an end - there’s still chance to bring in your shoeboxes!

Volunteers are working flat-out to collect the shoeboxes you’ve been filling with gifts to brighten up Christmas for those in need in Calderdale.

Bryan Harkness, president of the Rotary Club of Halifax, has asked if those who still have to fill a box could do so this week.

He said: “It doesn’t matter if a box was given out at one of the participating schools, collected from a supermarket in Todmorden or anywhere else - all the outlets would be only too pleased to take the boxes back from you. Voluntary Action Calderdale are working every day to fulfil requests for boxes from the various charity organisations in our area and your box could just make ‘that difference’ to someone at Christmas. There are still a couple of hundred boxes out there to be returned to so it’s not too late”.

Schools including Siddal Primary School have been busy filling their shoeboxes for the appeal.
