ONLY one in eight people bothered to vote yesterday in the election for a Police and Crime Commissioner to represent the West Yorkshire region, according to preliminary figures.

The turnout figure of about 13.8 per cent is due to be confirmed when the votes are counted from 11am this morning in Huddersfield, according to returning officer Joanne Roney.
