A man in his 30s has died after being rescued from Baitings Dam, Ripponden.
Police were called shortly before 9.40am yesterday (Tuesday) to a report of a concern for safety relating to a man in the water at Baitings Reservoir, off Rochdale Road.
The man was rescued from the water by fire crews at 10am and taken by ambulance to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, where he was later pronounced dead.
Halifax firefighters were called to the scene at 9.40am after being alerted by local residents.
The man has yet to be formally identified but he is believed to be a local man in his 30s.
A spokeswoman for Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: “A total of four vehicles were sent to the scene at 9.44am including two hazardous response units, an ambulance and a rapid response vehicle.”
Enquiries are ongoing but at this stage the death is not being treated as suspicious.
