A special service of Evensong at Halifax Minster, on Sunday, 4pm, will celebrate the work of the Bishop of Wakefield the Rt Rev Stephen Platten.
He is leaving after 10 years to become Rector of St Michael’s Cornhill in central London.
Bishop Stephen was a prime mover in re-dedicating Halifax Parish Church as a Minster, and his vision was instrumental in the founding of Trinity Academy in Halifax.
Vicar of Halifax Minster, Canon Hilary Barber said: “Bishop Stephen leaves the diocese with a strong legacy in Halifax. We shall miss him but we wish him all the very best in his new roles in London.”
The final debate in the Minster Series takes place on Monday (17th) with keynote speaker David Nicholson, Group Director of the Halifax Community Bank. He will be joined by Steve Leigh from the Mid-Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and Vicky Atkinson, from Riley and Co Accountants. The Bishop of Pontefract the Rt Rev Tony Robinson will be the chairman. From 3.30pm to 4.30pm there will be a session for sixth formers across Calderdale, followed by the session for the public, which runs from 6.30pm to 8pm.
