Following the sad loss of former South African leader Nelson Mandela Halifax Minister is planning a memorial service in his honour.

The special service will be held on Sunday December 15 at 4pm.

Everyone is welcome to share memories of the great man.

Rev Canon Hilary Barber said: “Nelson was clearly one of the last great leaders of the 20th Century, and has left an extraordinary legacy to the world he inhabited. It seems fitting that the Minster should offer an opportunity for people to gather locally to give thanks to God for this great man and to remember him.”

Reports suggest the flags on Halifax Town Hall will be flown at half mast.
