The Met Office is warning people to be aware of potential local flooding in Yorkshire.
It has issued a yellow warning with more wind and rain expected today with North Yorkshire likely to be the worst affected region across the county.
Forecasters say showers will be heavy at times with a chance of hail and thunder, especially this afternoon.
Showers will continue tonight, but they will become more isolated and generally a little lighter.
Despite clear periods temperatures will remain far above freezing, due to the continuing strong wind.
Heavy traffic is reported on the A629 Calderdale Way and the A62 at Cooper Bridge.
A replacement bus service is running on Northern Rail between Hebden Bridge and Burnley Manchester Road due to engineering works.
