A group of mountaineers have hit the heights for Overgate Hospice in Elland and raised more than £8,000 by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

Paul Bowen, 32, Michael Holroyd, 43, Clare Kirman. 36, Marj Kirman, 56, and Lee Knowles, 39, all of Halifax, all hold the hospice close to their hearts, either having had family members cared for there, knowing volunteers there or, as in the case of Marj, having suffered with cancer herself.

Laura Whitham, from at Overgate, said: “We would like to thank the trekkers and all those who sponsored them, the amount they raised is absolutely amazing.”
