A mother of three is concerned for her young, children’s safety after her garden wall was knocked down by a vehicle - twice in one week.

Over the past three years Kerry Green, 31, has seen more than her fair share of vehicles scraping and crashing into her garden wall on the corner of Churn Lane and Trimmingham Road at Trimmingham, Halifax, with three other crashes taking place in the past three years.

“I don’t feel safe sending my children to play in the garden anymore - I just have this image of 60-tonne truck hurtling through the wall,” said Jenny.

“In the first incident, a man came down the hill and drove through the wall into the garden and was sadly killed.

“Another time, the driver of a huge tractor misjudged the turn and took out the entire corner of the wall.

“The most recent was a driver who became wedged in the wall - the wheels were off the ground, it was quite scary.

For the past two-and-half years residents have been campaigning for the roads to be improved in the area.

Councillor James Baker (Lib Dem, Warley) said: “I’d like to see something done about the roads in that whole area because you’ve got a series of narrow roads that trucks go down because drivers follow their Sat-Navs down roads which clearly aren’t suitable for that kind of traffic.

“I’d like to see the Highways department put restrictions on the road, such as narrowing the road so trucks can’t get through or a one way system - it’s a dangerous road for drivers and for pedestrians,” he said.
