A Halifax athlete will compete in the London Marathon in a sprint to raise money for a disabled children’s charity.

Natalie Lines, 24, daughter of Hair Bears, Skircoat Green, hairdresser and owner Tracy Moore is running to raise cash for the children’s charity close to their hearts, Whizz Kidz.

Hair Bears is hairdressers to some children and families who have benefitted from the charity which provides wheelchairs and mobility equipment for disabled children.

Determined Natalie, who has been training several times a week; even training whilst on a skiing break in France, hopes to complete the 26.2 mile marathon in 4-5 hours and raise over £1,500 for her chosen charity.

“Through my mum’s salon, we know families affected by disability and have seen the wonderful work Whizz Kidz does and I want to do something positive to give back.”

The Pathway Software, Dean Clough, web designer, has been training at Savile Park and in London when she’s there with work.

“I’ve never done a race as physically demanding, but the fact children from the charity, who I’ve met some of previously, will be there cheering me along - I’m sure will give me the push I need,” said Natalie.

After the April 13 race, Natalie will enjoy celebratory drinks and thank you’s from Whizz Kidz representatives. To donate see justgiving.com/natalie-lines1
