‘No’ to move for primary kids

.

.

Plans to move two years of a primary school up to a secondary school will not go ahead.

In a Brighter Futures Academy Trust meeting it was decided that year five and six pupils at Siddal Primary School, Halifax, will not relocate to additional classroom space at Park Lane Learning Trust, Halifax, following consultation. A letter to Siddal Primary School parents and carers said consultation results were ‘virtually 50/50 split’ between those for and against. To accommodate additional reception pupils in September 2014, the school will use its EYFS unit until a long-term decision is decided.

In the school letter, signed by executive head teacher Lynda Johnson, it said: “Other options to address the increasing demand for primary school spaces in the Siddal area will continue to be considered in liaison with the local authority.” It reported, demographic data shows a long-term need for additional primary places in the Siddal area.
