The incident occurred around 11.15pm on Pellon Lane, near to the junction of Back Victor Terrace when a Peugeot 207 was in collision with the pedestrian.

It is believed he was in the road at the time of the incident, and may have been in conversation with persons within a second vehicle shortly before the incident.

The man was treated for serious injuries and taken to hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

PC Matthew Judge of the Safer Roads and Neighbourhoods Team West said; “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around Pellon Lane around the time of the incident and who may have seen either the pedestrian, or the Peugeot prior to the incident or who witnessed the collision itself to come forward.

“Whilst quite late in the evening, the road is one of the main routes out of Halifax and there will have been a number of people travelling in both directions who may have information that may help with our enquiries.

“We believe that the pedestrian may have been in conversation with persons in a second vehicle in the time prior to the collision, and that there may have been a third vehicle travelling from Halifax which may have seen some, or all of what took place and would encourage the drivers of both vehicles to speak to police.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Judge at the Safer Roads and Neighbourhoods Support Team West via 101 quoting 13160286145.
