The Rotary Club of Halifax is the second significant supporter of the campaign to build a new sixth form for pupils at Calderdale’s only special high school.

Halifax Rotary president Peter Lloyd, pictured, along with other Rotarians presented Ravenscliffe High School, Skircoat Green, Halifax, with a cornerstone donation of £1,000.

Headteacher Martin Moorman said: “Halifax Rotary and Ravenscliffe have enjoyed a beneficial relationship over many years - we admire the spirit shown by Rotarians.”

The donation will go towards the £1.5 million needed to build nearby Ravenscliffe@SpringHall Sixth Form and Community Centre, Huddersfield Road.

Calderdale Council has pledged half of the capital needed to build a new sixth form to alleviate over-crowding problems at the Skircoat Green site. The school is determined to make the dream a reality and is calling on its community to pledge support.
