A new project will deliver free fire safety checks to vulnerable people in Calderdale.
Scope Aspire Services, in Halifax, and the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service are working together on the project.
Volunteers and staff at Scope attended training sessions at Halifax Fire Station to learn about the importance of fire safety and how to identify potential fire hazards within the home.
Volunteers will make referrals to the Fire Service who will then carry out home visits and a fire safety assessment, installing fire safety equipment as appropriate.
Peter Wardhaugh, Service Manager, for Scope Aspire said “This project is giving Scope the opportunity to provide another service to our customers and the community, some of whom may be very vulnerable to these risks.”
