Seriously injured dog walker rescued by mountain team

A dog walker who suffered a serious injury out on the moor above Ripponden had to be rescued by the Calder and Vallery Search and Rescue team.

Members were called out this lunchtime (Friday) to assist the Yorkshire Ambulance Service and the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

The woman slipped on uneven ground resulting in her sustaining a dislocated ankle,

Arriving within a few minutes of the callout, CVSRT members headed out onto the hill to assist the paramedics on scene.

Once the patient’s pain was under control her ankle was relocated by the paramedics and CVSRT members then took over care.

The patient was assisted onto a stretcher and then carried half a mile from the hill to the waiting ambulance for onward transport to hospital.
