A mum in Sowerby Bridge is preparing to tackle the London Marathon in memory of her dad.

Sue Jones is hoping to raise £2,500 for the British Heart Foundation after her dad, who ran the London marathon four times, died of heart disease a year ago.

She said: “I’ve been training for eight months but it’s been tough because I’m a single mum with a full-time job. I’ve mainly been getting out to train when I can.

“I’m hoping for a time of around five hours but I’ve never done a marathon before, although I have done half-marathons like the Manchester Run.

“I’ve already managed just over £1,000. I’m holding a raffle at work and my daughter Mollie has been selling bracelets and necklaces at school that her grandma makes.

“There’s a bit of trepidation about it but I’ll get round one way or another - even if I have to crawl.”
