The public can learn about work behind the scenes at Calderdale Royal Hospital in a serious of talks on modern healthcare issues.

The Medicines 4 Members presentation series features free talks by experts at the Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust.

The first takes a look at the work of estate and facilities matron Chris Bentley - who is among the first in the country to hold the role, which links up clinical care and support services for patients.

Her talk will be called ‘Good food, clean sheets and a good night’s sleep” and takes place at Calderdale Royal Hospital (CRH) on March 4.

The talks take place in the lecture theatres, with registration at 5.3pm and the talks at 6pm.

Other talks at CRH include pharmacy teams on “Bugs and drugs’ on April 30; Prof Gautam Chakrabarty on the role of orthopaedic sugeons and advances in surgery on June 27; the NHS’s adaptations for an ageing population on October 10 and techniques and terms in modern diagnostics on November 12.
