Reigning Tour de France champion Chris Froome and Team Sky have descended on Calderdale to ride parts of the Grand Depart stage two route.

Julie Fiona Clark (above) and Sam Stafford got these pictures of the team coming through Mytholmroyd.

Chris Froome, 29, who is among the favourites to claim the 2014 crown took to his racing bike to test the terrain up Cragg Vale, through Mytholmroyd and Greetland.

Froome has been in fine form this year having already secured overall victory in the Tour of Oman, and most recently in the Tour de Romandie in Switzerland.

The Team Sky rider, who could line up alongside compatriot and 2012 Tour champion Sir Bradley Wiggins this summer, has recently been training in Tenerife in preparation for the Tour de France.

Froome will be one of nearly 200 cyclists to ride from York to Sheffield when the 201km stage two race rolls through Calderdale on July 6.
