More than 90 competitors revved-up during the Halifax round of the British Radio Car Association’s Eletric On-Road event.
The competition is regarded as the most popular event for electric car racers, with the latest of five rounds hosted by the Yorkshire Radio Controlled Model Car Racing Club at the Halifax Track on Stainland Road.
Model car racing sees various scale models of cars being driven by different power sources but controlled by a digital handset via a radio link to the car.
John Russell, who helped run the event, said: “The weather conditions were less than favourable.
“The final was won by Chris Price, with UK National Champion 2013 Chris Granger in second and local driver Ollie Jefferies third.
“There were about 200 people there and it was a successful event that we’ve brought to Calderdale.
“We don’t get it every year but we bid for it and got it.
“Every body was extremely pleased with the facilities and some people stayed on and made a week’s holiday of it.
“Hopefully it will return to our track again next year.”
