Special business roadshows are being held in Huddersfield and Holmfirth to coincide with the imminent publication of the list of road closures for this summer’s Tour de France.
All businesses within 500m of the race route have been invited to attend the sessions where they will hear the latest up-to-date information on plans for the race including temporary road closures and parking restrictions and arrangements for spectators and visitors. Sessions are open to all Kirklees businesses and are free to attend.
Leader of Kirklees Council, Cllr David Sheard, said: “This is undoubtedly a huge once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our residents and businesses to take part in what is the greatest free sporting event in the world, but at the same time we’re also realistic about the level of disruption likely on the day. We’re determined to make sure that our businesses have the very latest information so that they can plan their operations for that day well in advance. So far, over 900 Kirklees businesses have attended our roadshows, and as a result we have over 40 temporary campsites and 25 temporary car parks registered; not to mention a whole host of private events and hospitality.”
