Players from Halifax Town’s promotion-winning squad of 1997-98 reunited for a special dinner at the Shay.

Only three players, Geoff Horsfield, Andy Thackary and Jamie Paterson, were unable to attend the event, which attracted 200 guests and featured footage of that memorable season on big screens.

The evening also included an auction, raffle, comedian and a question-and-answer session with the players.

Stephen Oleksewycz from Olexyfresh Promotions, who ran the event, said: “The night was a fantastic success.

“It’s safe to say any Halifax Town fans who didn’t get tickets seriously missed out.

“It was brilliant to have all the players in the same room again and all of them thoroughly enjoyed the event.

“We, along with Jack Haymer, a long time passionate Town supporter, will be presenting the Forget Me Not Hospice with a cheque of £1,000 and Leeds Hospital with £200.

“We ran the event to raise funds for a charity called Abigail’s Army, who are fighting to raise awareness of of those affected by spinal muscular atrophy type one, a genetic disease currently incurable with a life expectancy of just eight months. We are very proud to have raised funds for such a great cause.”
