A top Brooksbank sixth-form student is keeping his feet on the ground after achieving astounding A-level success.
Corey Lee will embark upon employment at Asda when many of his peers will leave Calderdale to study at universities across the country.
Corey came top of the results chart nationally with two A* and one A in Biology, Geography and PE.
The results came as a shock to Corey who was expecting A, B, C at A-level.
He had previously applied to study Biology at degree level but had received an unconditional offer through UCAS.
Corey then applied for a job at the Halifax giant supermarket employer and was successful after an interview.
“I really wasn’t expecting these results - now I could go to any university. I’ve decided to take a gap-year and work in that year so I can save some money for university as I’ve seen how much of a struggle it is for my brother.
“I’m so happy with my results, I’ve been revising for three months so I’m going out to celebrate in Halifax with friends tonight.”
Head of Brooksbank School sixth-form, Dave Puddephatt, said he was delighted for Corey who was genuinely surprised at how well he had done in his A-levels.
