Watch: The Shaymen's song for Wembley

As the build up to the Wembley FA trophy final continues, a group of FC Halifax Town fans have created a song for the occasion.

‘When Glory Shone Around (Upon FC Halifax Town)’ performed by The Landlubbers and The Roving Thieves was written and sung by Simon Conway an ex of the Bogey Wheels

Mr Conway said: “It was all a bit of a joke, we were all having a pint and we thought we’d do it.”

Shaymen fans also helped record the track by providing backing vocals and the shouting.

Paul Shannon who was involved in the creation of the song said: “There was a bunch of us in a taxi after the semi-final and we had a giggle and we thought it would be a great idea to create a song for Wembley.

“We are also trying really hard to get it to be one of the songs played before the match. And what is really amazing is the club have endorsed us.”

“I paid for us to get the song recorded in Bradford. We did it in tribute to fans that have passed away and I think this song is an absolute belter.”

The CD’s expected to be available at the weekend. Details of where and how to buy them will be released soon.

Any profits made from the song will go to the club.
