Students at St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School, Elland, have entered their successful Paper Round-up project into the Speakers School Council Awards run by Speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow MP.

The recycling project has reduced the amount of general waste at the school each night from two black bin bags to half a bag.

The school has six paper recycling monitors and two pupils who empty these into an outside bin with help from an adult.

The idea for the project came from Calum Ingham, Class Aire representative on the School Council.
