Canal clear-up at Copley

Waiting for Video...

A team of community volunteers are cleaning up the Calder and Hebble Navigation at Copley.

Five volunteers and Canal and River Trust representative Lucy Dockray spent the day clearing weeds and planting new flower beds along the canal towpath.

Lucy said the team was made up of a mixture of volunteers ranging from aged in their 20s-60s.

She said: “It’s been hard work but worth it to get the area tidied up especially ahead of the Tour de France as we want the Navigation to look the best it can.”
