A car burst into flames after crashing into a wall in heavy fog last night (Monday).

The driver of the car was at the junction of Southowram bank and Beacon Hill Road when he crashed into a solid stone wall.

A West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said the driver had not seen the wall because of heavy fog.

The car burst into flames following the collision, but the driver managed to get out of the vehicle uninjured.

Fire crews from Halifax were called to the scene at around 11.40pm and a breathing apparatus wearer tackled the fire using hose reels.

Crews left around one hour later.
