A car has been recovered from the Rochdale Canal.
A police underwater team and a British Waterways team took almost four hours to winch a car from the canal off Hollins Road, Walsden, today (Thursday, June 21).
The rescue operation began at 6.15am after the silver Citroen Xsara was spotted in the water by a passer-by. No one was inside the vehicle and a search by divers failed to find any sign of the driver. The car was retrieved using a JCB and a winch.
Police are investigating.
