Two college students are raising money for a Rastrick school by walking from Sowerby Bridge to Hebden Bridge.

Billie-Lou Lowson, 16, and her friend Rosie Moorman, 17, are part-time carers for two boys, who can’t be named, at Highbury School.

The girls decided it would be good if they could raise some money towards the school’s £250,000 target.

Billie-Lou, who is in her first year of college at Brooksbank, said the response to the idea had been fantastic.

“Rosie and I were out with the boys one Saturday and we decided it would be nice if we could do some fund raising,” she said.

“It started off as a small walk but now it’s become a massive thing, which is great.”

“We’ve already raised well over £400 and although we don’t want to set any targets. The walk takes place on Saturday 1 October.
