CHILDREN at a Calderdale pre-school will be following in the footsteps of TV’s The Good Life, thanks to a cash boost.
Youngsters from Shelf Pre-School have been given £1,500 from bus company First to develop a play area suitable for a vegetable and herb garden.
Staff at the pre-school want to teach children and their parents about healthy eating and thought the best way would be to help them grow their own produce. Mick O’Neil, a bus driver for First, presented the cheque to the school.
He said: “We look forward to going back to the school in the next few months to see how the garden grows and the healthy eating project develops.” First’s regional charity committee was set up this year to consider requests for funding.
It aims to provide charitable support for projects benefiting young people, health and the environment.
