CHEERLEADERS have brought five trophies back to Calderdale after shaking their pom-poms at a major competition.

The Cheervision-trained squads competed at the The British Cheerleading Association event at the Newcastle Metro Arena.

North Halifax Grammar School and Hotshots squads were placed first in their categories.

Meanwhile, the A Team placed second, Crossley Heath Peewees, came in third and Hiplight Juniors finished in fourth place.

Head coach Brooke Urbani said: “They have excelled at our most recent competition because of their dedication and enjoyment.”

New members are welcome at Cheervision’s club at Hipperholme and Lightcliffe High School.

It runs each Friday from 5pm to 8pm and is open to girls and boys aged five or above. A summer camp is also being held from August 8 to 11.

Brooke said: “It is a highly exciting form of exercise which develops stamina, strength, team ethic, discipline and most of all fun.

“We perform all-star American-style cheer, which includes stunts and lifts, dance, jumps and tumble.”
