A NEW sensory garden has had its grand opening.
Residents of Asquith Hall, Todmorden, have worked hard with staff and Olive Landscapes to plan their perfect retreat.
Now the Mayor and Mayoress of Todmorden, Richard and Sandy White, have toured the garden.
Home manager Janet Thompson said planning began after the home was built in May 2010.
They started a gardening club to plan their “Secret Garden”. “It’s enclosed and away from the main road. We started building what would be appropriate for the people in the home, either disabled, or in wheelchairs.
“The plants are all non-toxic and because it’s a sensory garden there are lots of smells and colours.”
One of the raised beds is dedicated to people who have died at the home.
