Over 30 people rallied round to clean up a cemetery this weekend.
Former Brighouse resident Claire Connor arranged the clean up at Brighouse cemetery, where he father is buried.
The group made up of local residents, councillors, children and six staff from Calderdale council, strimmed the grass, pruned the trees and tidied away rubbish.
Claire, now of Siddal, said she had been inspired to do the work because the cemetery, which is unmanned, was beginning to get run down.
“The front half of the cemetery looks great but the bottom half, where my dad is, was starting to look messy,” she said.
“I know there aren’t the resources available to keep it looking as it should so I decided to organise the clean up.
“Everybody has worked tirelessly and I’m delighted with the effort everyone has put in, particularly the six lads from the council, including Richard Lumb, who have worked so hard.”
The group worked all day Saturday and plan to work throughout Sunday too.
“It was great fun and it didn’t really feel like work,” she added. “It looks so much better now and I’m really pleased.”
