Club is built to succeed - Gedman
PAUL Gedman is expecting a major clearout of players in the coming weeks as new Halifax Town boss Neil Aspin starts to build for the 2009-10 campaign.
But the big striker is convinced that everything is right at the Shay for Halifax to do well in Unibond One North - and beyond.
The Shaymen looked like making a challenge for promotion this season before fading to finish in eighth place.
And that failure is likely to mean a big turnround of talent under Aspin, who was appointed permanent successor to Jim Vince earlier this week.
"I am sure that there will be a lot of lads on the move with us not performing this year," said Gedman.
"Everything is set up to be perfect, and that is why I wanted to come.
"The fans are great, the pitch is great and we should have dominated the league.
"I don't think there has been enough stability as a team and as a club.
"We have not played the same team or the same formation enough.
"As a forward I like to know the players around me, I like to know where the support is.
"And it is not just strikers it has been like that all over the pitch."
Gedman ended the season with eight goals from 17 starts, but it was a disappointing second half to the campaign for the striker who missed two months with an ankle problem.
"It was good leading up to Christmas, then there were a lot of interruptions for me," said Gedman who arrived from Droylsden after a successful loan spell.
"It started with a few niggles and ended with a big injury."
He returned as a substitute in the final few games and is now looking forward to a break before turning his attentions to next season.
"I am the type of lad who does not need to know what I am doing next season as soon as the previous one has ended," he said.
"I will have a break, forget about it for a bit and hopefully the calls will start coming in.
"I was in the same situation last year and even when teams were back in pre-season I didn't have a club, but I was not too worried."
NEWCASTLE Blue Star and Curzon Ashton face each other tomorrow in the Unibond One North play-off final at Kingston Park with the winners promoted alongside champions Durham City.
