Community cleans up

A COMMUNITY was out in force for Hebden Royd Town Council’s annual spring clean.

An army of residents and members of 14 local groups gave up their weekend to clean up areas of Cragg Vale, Hebden Bridge and Mytholmroyd.

River banks, parks, footpaths and tow paths were all given a bit of TLC and beer barrels, plastic crates and furniture were among the rubbish that was collected.

Calder Valley Search and Rescue Team recovered garbage that had been strewn on the river banks at Hawksclough Bridge, while the Mytholmroyd Scouts had nine groups out cleaning up the village.

The Mytholmroyd Station Partnership also put a fresh lick of paint on the station building.

Emma Housman, neighbourhood manager for Hebden Royd Town Council, said: “We were delighted with the success of the weekend.

“To have so many groups out supporting the clean up is just fantastic and it is also a great way for Hebden Royd Town Council to support these charitable and voluntary organisations through the sponsorship.”
