Pupils from St Mary’s Catholic primary school, Halifax, braved the rain to plants daffodil bulbs in nearby Manor Heath Park. Hundreds of daffodils were planted by pupils and Calderdale College horticulture students in the park’s ‘Field of Hope.’

Marie Curie’s Calderdale treasurer Beryl Ritchie said: “When the bulbs flower in Spring, this area will be a colourful and peaceful place for people to remember loved ones.”

The initial clearing of the land as well as the planting of the bulbs was a community joint effort between Mc Vities operatives, who cleared the land, and Calderdale College students and St Mary’s pupils - who planted and buried the bulbs which were donated by the park.
