GOOD fun was had and pothole-filling cash was raised at a village fair.

Oakville Residents’ Association hold an event every year to raise money to keep Oakville Road on the outskirts of Hebden Bridge open.

The steep single-track road is not adopted by Calderdale Council and so it is up to the residents to keep it in good enough condition for people to use.

The residents there say it is not gritted during the winter and potholes are only filled if they have raised enough money to buy materials.

Visitors to the fair enjoyed a host of stalls and games including a water slide and home-made cakes.

There were also performances from several local musicians.

Secretary of the residents association Marie Howarth said: “It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and a great family fun day out.”
