It’s Gala day in Halifax and preparations are underway for the event at Manor Heath Park.

Stall holders are putting the finishing touches to their rides, games and food outlets in preparation for the thousands of visitors expected at the event.

Norman McDonnell, of the Christchurch Christian Youth Group, said: “It’s our first time at the event but we’ve got brilliant weather for it so it should be great.”

Mohammed Matloob, who will be running a food stall, said: “I’m really excited. There should be plenty of people coming.

“We’ve been coming here for the last 15 years and always enjoy it. It should be a good day.”

Sunshine is expected all day in Halifax, with the Grand Procession travelling through the town centre at about 12,30pm.
