IT’S official – Calder Valley MP Craig Whittaker loves a juicy pork sausage.
He was one of six politicians from the region who gathered at Westminster to support the Yorkshire Sausage Campaign, led by Ilkley butcher David Lishman and Welcome to Yorkshire.
It aims to find the county a namesake sausage to rival the likes of the Cumberland, Lincolnshire and Suffolk.
The MPs sampled six of David’s specially-designed bangers and chose their favourites.
Close to 3,000 people have also voted at a series of Yorkshire-wide street sampling roadshows and events.
Final votes will be cast at the Great Yorkshire Show and the winning sausage will be unveiled at a Yorkshire Day celebration in Ilkley on August 1.
The recipe will then be shared with butchers across the region.
