Fire crews worked up a lather to help raise money for a cause close to their hearts.

They held a car wash at Halifax Fire Station in aid of the Fire Fighters Charity.

It was a way to support Holly Stuart’s fundraising efforts. She works in the control room and will be running the London Marathon on April 24 to raise funds for the charity. Paul Daly, watch commander at Halifax Fire Station, said: “It went really well, there was a constant stream of people coming throughout the day despite the bad weather.

“We raised £464 and people were very generous and donated money even if they weren’t having their car washed.

“We’d like to thank everybody who came along.”
