27 arrested in major Calderdale drugs operation

'˜This will not be tolerated' - That's the defiant message from West Yorkshire Police after suspected drug dealers in Halifax were targeted in a major operation.

Substantial amounts of cash, class A drugs and drug production equipment, plus equipment for use in credit card fraud and a stolen motor vehicle, were seized as officers raided houses across the town this week.

As part of the operation, 27 people were arrested on suspicion of more than 60 separate offences and 13 men and two women have since been charged with with drugs offences. All are due to appear at Calderdale Magistrates’ Court next week.

“We know only too well the devastating impact that drug dealing can have, often being the catalyst for other offending and ripping the heart out of communities.

“This operation demonstrates our continued commitment to taking action against those responsible.

“We continue to work closely with our partners across a number of agencies to understand and act on concerns, addressing and tackling those issues that residents feel are a priority, taking positive action against suspected offenders, and doing everything we can to bring them to justice.”
