An elderly pensioner was dragged to the ground by a man who stole her handbag.

The 88-year-old was walking along an alleyway between the Asda car park and Westcliffe Road, Shipley, when she was targeted.

The victim was injured and is currently being treated in hospital.

Her injuries are not considered life threatening.

The bag taken was a brown shoulder bag with a chrome effect pattern on the front.

Police say three people went to the woman’s aid but officers would like to hear from anyone else who was in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious.

They should contact CID at Trafalgar House via 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
