FIVE people have appeared in court charged with the robbery that left a Halifax teenager critically ill.

They are: Stefan Grant, 20, of Halesworth Crescent; Duron Thompson, 19, of Basil Street; Sophie Arnold, 18, of Ormondroyd Avenue; Viren Lad, 17, of Winston Terrace; and Hassan Adam, 17, of Ventnor Street, all in Bradford.

The four young men allegedly attacked Richard Lister, 18, and stole his iPhone in Skircoat Green Road, Halifax, at 10.12pm on Thursday. He had been on his way to celebrate his A-level results and is still in a serious condition in hospital.

The gang are also accused of robbing 20-year-old Michael Cook of his phone, passport and cash in Moor Bottom Road, Illingworth, Halifax, less than an hour earlier.

Arnold - Adam’s girlfriend - is alleged to have driven the others around Halifax.

The defendants have not yet entered pleas and all five were remanded in custody.
