Attempted robbery in Wyke

Police are appealing for information following an attempted robbery in Wyke.

A 64-year-old man was about to close his shop for the day in Union Road at around 10.10pm last night (Thursday) when the suspect entered the shop and made demands for the till to be opened.

There was a struggle and the man received a small cut to his arm which required hospital treatment. The suspect was then disturbed by a customer and ran out of the shop towards Acaster Drive.

He is believed to be in his late teens, of average build and around 5ft 10ins tall. He was wearing a dark coloured top and his face was concealed.

The Tong and Wyke Neighbourhood Policing Team are conducting reassurance patrols following the incident.
