A HALIFAX man was back in jail today for downloading more than 1,500 indecent images of children.

Stewart Goswell, 62, was jailed for three years in 2005 for child-porn offences.

On his release he was banned from having a computer or using the internet.

But a routine check on Goswell’s home in Penn Street, Halifax, revealed three second-hand computers and hundreds of images of child abuse and bestiality involving adults.

Bearded warehouseman Goswell admitted to police he had been using the internet for five or six months and had been discussing rape fantasies with someone pretending to be a young girl on an chatroom.

Prosecutor Stephen Grattage told the court that almost 1430 of the indecent images were at the lowest level of seriousness, but there were more than 90 from the two most serious categories.

Judge Benson said Goswell should have learned his lesson in 2005.

He sentenced him to 15 months but because he breached his extended licence period he could be kept behind bars until January 2013.
